A MediaRenderer is in UPnP speak a device that plays back media content provided by a MediaServer. It is intended to be controlled by an UPnP ControlPoint.
Furthermore it is the name of a little project that acts as a test-bed for the Coherence client implementations.
Coherence has these MediaRenderer backends:
- GStreamer player
- Based on GStreamer this backend forms a stand-alone MediaRenderer for audio (and video) files.
- Rhythmbox
- A MediaRenderer embedded in Rhythmbox, allowing to control the player there with an UPnP ControlPoint.
- Elisa
- That MediaRenderer allows the Elisa Media Center to be controlled by an ControlPoint.
